Home Theater, or Media Room?

Traditionally a home theater is designed to either emulate or surpass the quality of the cinematic experience one might find in a public movie theater. Home theaters more often use a projector and screen to display video, and typically the décor and design of the room includes special designed fabric walls for acoustic treatment and plush leather theater seating.

From a technical stand point a media room is very much the same as a home theater, however the design and feel of the room is very different. Rather than rows of theater seating, media rooms usually have more comfortable couches and a less glamorous feel. Sometimes media rooms are designed as combination rooms with offices or libraries. The design emphasis is less on the technically perfect and more on the multi-use comfortable environment.
